The Phenomenology of African Logic

In celebration of UNESCO WORLD LOGIC DAY, 14TH January 2024
Synopsis
What is African logic? How does it shape the African-conscious experience of the world? How does it ground the African philosophical assumptions?
These are some of the questions yearning for answers in the history and development of logic in Africa. African logic has not been widely discussed or engaged like its Western or Chinese counterparts.
Scholars such as Innocent Asouzu, Chris Ijiomah, Helen Verran, Leopold Senghor, and Jonathan Chimakonam have systematically theorized logic originating from African lived experiences.
Others like Meirad Hebga, CS Momoh, CB Okolo, Chukwuemeka Nze, Uduma Oji, etc., have debated the subject. Apart from the works of a few scholars, African logic has not received the type of critical engagement needed to move the field forward.
This conference aims to fill this gap by exploring some contributions of these scholars to logic within the African context.
Therefore, this conference calls for papers that will criticize, appraise, and extend aspects of their works as logical contributions that stem from African experience and reality.
The outcome of the colloquium will be published in a special issue of Arumaruka: Journal of Conversational Thinking (a DHET Accredited Journal).
Those interested in engaging with these scholars should submit 150 words abstract suitable for a 20–30-minute presentation to Amaraesther35@gmail.com on any topics (aspects) of the following broad systems:
