The CSP is the Conversational School of Philosophy. It is the Conversational Society of Philosophy. It is a forum for African philosophers, for specialists in the fields of African philosophy, African intellectual history and African studies who are interested in the Method of Conversational Thinking as an approach of choice in their research.

  • We endorse and propagate the method of Conversational Thinking (CT) as an African culture-inspired procedure of inquiry in different fields.

  • We endorse and propagate the doctrine of Conversational Philosophy (CP) as an African culture-inspired orientation to philosophy.

To promote contacts and collaborations among African philosophers and rigorous-minded scholars in the sundry fields of African studies;

To groom and mentor young and future African intellectuals and thinkers;

To train members to be meticulous in writing, brave in thinking and smashing in extempore presentation;

To organize international conferences and workshops, and sponsor or attract sponsorship for members to attend the same where relevant to the objectives of the society;

To publish and sustain the publication of quality research papers on Filosofia Theoretica: Journal of African philosophy, Culture and Religions.

2021 CHIEPA Essay Prize Topic: “Rethinking the Logic Foundation of African Philosophy”.

The deadline for submission of entries is 12 mid-night (West African Time) February 12, 2021. The winning entry will be announced on March 19 2020.  We intend to review and publish the winning essay in the first issue of 2021. All submissions to be sent to awards@cspafrica.org with the subject title written as: SURNAME-2021 CHIEPA ENTRY. Include a separate file containing a 200 word short bio.

1st CSP EMERGING IDEAS ON CONVERSATIONAL THINKING CONFERENCE (EICT)

The Conversational School of Philosophy (CSP), in collaboration with Thinking Africa, invites scholars to submit abstracts (200 words max) for consideration. Priority will be given to submissions that comply with the eight postulates of the conversational method.
