The Chris Ijiomah Essay Prize Award (CHIEPA)
In memory of CSP icon of African philosophy, Late Prof. Chris Okezie Ijiomah, the Conversational Society of Philosophy is pleased to announce that it has now instituted The Chris Ijiomah Essay Prize Award (CHIEPA).
This award is worth R3000 and it is open to all postgraduate students (Masters and Doctorate) in any part of the world.
The theme/topic for each year will be decided by the CSP CHIEPA Committee. This theme would naturally be in the areas of African Epistemology and Logic which are the areas in which Ijiomah made his most significant contributions.
– This essay prize is only open to Post Graduate Students (M & D).
– Post Graduate Students of all nationalities can send in an essay which must be 4000-5000 words in total inclusive of references. A passport size photograph would be requested from the winner for our website.
– The winner will receive R3,000 (N75, 000) and the winning essay will be published in the prestigious journal, Filosofia Theoretica: Journal of African Philosophy, Culture and Religion.
Once the theme for the year is selected, a call for submission would be announced on the CSP site: cspafrica.org. Each paper would be blind-reviewed and ranked by external and independent reviewers who are not members of the CSP, and whose recommendations would exclusively determine the winning entry.
The CSP reserves the right to not award prizes (especially in the rare circumstance where external reviewers indicate that no entry is of real quality).
