In collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of Calabar, Nigeria.
Convenors: Dr Amara Esther Chimakonam and Dr Enyimba Maduka

Synopsis
The Conversational School of Philosophy (CSP) is hosting this tribute roundtable in honour of a renowned African philosopher and one of its founding fathers, the late Prof. Mesembe Ita Edet (March 1965 –February 2023). In honouring his life and work, we will revisit what he has achieved and contributed to African philosophy, as well as consider how his contributions will fuel new intellectual projects in the field. The roundtable discusses his two main theories, Herstoricity and Conceptual Mandelanization (attached here), and looks for ways these theories will move the discipline forward. This roundtable, therefore, will bring together different generations of African philosophers within and beyond Africa to discuss his life and works.
